The most expensive homes sold in Detroit this year

We’re almost halfway through 2017 and the real estate market has been busy in Detroit this year. Some major properties have sold around the city, from downtown to Boston Edison and Palmer Woods. The top sales of the year are a mix of condos and historic homes, with the largest sale so far a Book Cadillac penthouse.

What will the last six months of 2017 bring? Many beautiful homes in Indian Village have been on the market this spring, while a flurry of McMansions have gone up for sale in the strange Morgan Waterfront Estates.

Earlier this year, we put together the most expensive homes for sale in the city, and we can now take two off the list. Will we see more sales on the east side? Will the Motown Mansion ever find a new owner? Will we see more lofts and condos hit the market? We’ll update this map a couple more times this year. If you’ve seen a big sale, make sure to send it our way.

1 Book Cadillac Penthouse

$1,795,000

The highest sale so far this year is a condo atop the Westin Book Cadillac. It listed in January for $2.5 million, and many were skeptical. It’s 2,500 square feet, with high end finishes. This could be a good indicator for condos for sale now and further down the pipeline.

3 West Canfield

$755,000

This incredible 1874 West Canfield Victorian found a buyer the day it hit the market. Houses in this historic district rarely go up for sale, and this one had been meticulously restored. It was once owned by Beulah Croxford, who led preservation efforts in Detroit in the 60s and 70s.
