44 of the best French Fries in Michigan

As the “Michigan’s Best Team” we traveled more than 3 weeks and 3,500 miles across the state to pick out the Top 10 French Fries in Michigan.

Overall we visited 44 finalists on the trip. A majority of them were nominated and voted on by the readers of MLive.

In a couple instances, we went off the beaten path and responded to “passionate pleas” from readers for places that didn’t have a huge social media presence or were just under the radar. Some of the other stops were just organic.

We felt it was important to cast the net as wide as possible and give you a great list you can follow as you make your away across the state on your next Michigan adventure.

We both feel you can’t go wrong at ANY of these stops.

Happy National French Fry Day is you’re reading this on July 13!

Before we run down all 44 of our finalists, we want to say “THANK YOU” to all the restaurant owners, managers, waiters, waitresses, employees and customers we met at each stop.

The reason these journeys are so much fun is that we meet so many wonderful people who are excited to showcase their establishments and their love for great food, customer service and pride for Michigan.

In this photo, the crew from Toasted Pickle in Grand Haven was absolutely slammed the day we stopped in, but owner Karen Avery and chef Matt Frankum didn’t let it slow them down. Not only did we experience their vast menu and signature homemade lemonades, but they did it all while waiting on their customers.

Amy even let out a cheer for Chef Frankum when he and owner Karen came out of the kitchen to see if we had any more questions. This is the kind of enthusiasm we find everywhere.
